On the Greek island of Euboea, the incorrupt relics of Saint John of Russia are kept, making him one of the most beloved saints in Greece. Originally from southern Russia, Saint John is revered by countless Greeks due to the numerous miracles attributed to his relics and icons. He was a simple young man who spent much of his life in a stable. At the command of a Turkish bey, he was buried according to Christian rites, and his expensive burial garments were placed with him. After three years, he appeared to his spiritual father, and at the same time, a great light shone over his grave, revealing his incorrupt relics.
\nA triptych is a work of art composed of three connected parts, most often painted or carved, which together form a single whole. In Christian art, especially in the Middle Ages, the triptych was used as an altarpiece or part of an iconostasis.
\nThe central part is usually the largest and depicts the main scene\u2014most often Jesus Christ, the Holy Theotokos (Mother of God), or saints of our Church.
\nThe side panels are foldable and typically feature saints, angels, or the Lord and the Theotokos.
\nIt is practical for transport, which made it popular in the Middle Ages among traveling believers and priests.
