Saint Luke, one of the four Evangelists. Was a doctor of extraordinary education and talent, and is considered the patron saint and the founder of iconography in Christianity. In addition to the \u201cGospel of Luke,\u201d the New Testament is enriched by the \u201cActs of the Apostles,\u201d also written by Saint Luke. The Lord allowed him to witness and preach on the very day of Christ’s Resurrection, as vividly described in Luke\u2019s Gospel. Saint Luke preached the Risen Christ in Rome alongside the Apostles. He suffered martyrdom in his hometown, where many miracles occurred at his relics. In the 4th century, his relics were moved to the capital, Constantinople, and before the Turkish invasion, his relics were also honored in the Serbian capital, Smederevo, before Serbia fell under Ottoman rule.
\nA triptych is a work of art composed of three connected parts, most often painted or carved, which together form a single whole. In Christian art, especially in the Middle Ages, the triptych was used as an altarpiece or part of an iconostasis.
\nThe central part is usually the largest and depicts the main scene\u2014most often Jesus Christ, the Holy Theotokos (Mother of God), or saints of our Church.
\nThe side panels are foldable and typically feature saints, angels, or the Lord and the Theotokos.
\nIt is practical for transport, which made it popular in the Middle Ages among traveling believers and priests.
\nOur triptych is made from the finest pieces of ash wood, using icon-painting craftsmanship inspired by Byzantine and medieval originals.
\nIt is produced by metal casting and careful hand-finishing, enriched with 24-karat gold and 925 silver.
