The cross is crafted by combining iconographic techniques inspired by Byzantine and medieval originals.
It is produced through metal casting and meticulous hand-finishing, enriched with 24-karat gold and 925 silver, adorned with zircon stones, and set into the finest pieces of waxed walnut wood.
The dimensions of the cross are 93 mm x 150 mm x 22 mm.
Saint Dimitrius, the great martyr, placed God’s commands before imperial ones, sealing his loyalty to God and love for Him and His Church with his life. Confessing Christ and expecting suffering upon the return of Emperor Maximian, he gave all his possessions to the poor. Already in prison, he blessed the great martyr Nestor for his struggle and suffering. The Lord rewarded this soldier of Christ with abundant myrrh-flowing relics. After the persecution of the Church ended, Christians built a chapel above Saint Dimitrius’ tomb in Thessaloniki in his honor.
